I am reading To Kill a Mocking Bird, by Harper Lee courtesy of Harperperennial (Modern Classics) Thank you Amy.
Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the book, and I have never read it. I have seen the movie a few times. I have to say out of all the book notes and commentary I have ever heard, this one seems to top many, if not, most lists. I am sorry I haven't read it but in a way it is cool to have something so great to read now when I can appreciate it most.
I am so thrilled to be reading this book this Summer. I can't wait to report back on it.
Book Description
Harper Lee's classic novel of a lawyer in the Deep South defending a black man charged with the rape of a white girl. One of the best-loved stories of all time, To Kill a Mockingbird has earned many distinctions since its original publication in 1960. It won the Pulitzer Prize, has been translated into more than forty languages, sold more than thirty million copies worldwide, and been made into an enormously popular movie. Most recently, librarians across the country gave the book the highest of honors by voting it the best novel of the twentieth century.

I look forward to reading your thoughts.... What a great book that is.
I'm so glad that you are finally reading this wonderful book. It is one of those life changing books for me.
I read this book for the first time just a couple of years ago with my book club, and we all loved it! Enjoy every moment of it Toni!
I'm thrilled! You're reading the book, and you've seen the film--the screenplay writer, Horton Foote (who was good friends with Harper Lee) is the main reason my work sees the light of day today.
He was a saintly man.
It was ages ago I read this. Maybe time to go back to it.
I hope you are enjoying the read of this timeless classic. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts.
I hope you love it! It's one of my all time favorites!
Looking forward to hearing what you think. This was my first movie ever (was taken to see it at age 8 when it came out) and I read the book in high school, partly to see if it followed the movie, which I practically memorized cuz who didn't want to be Scout? and also because Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch was...amazing.
Anyway, the book will transport you in its way because it is timeless. Abstolutely, and in many ways unfortunately, it's timeless.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!
I read this ages ago and with this revival I need to re read it again. I think I will have a fresh perspective when I read it now.
Thanks for the FANTASTIC post! This information is really good and thanks a ton for sharing it. I am looking forward desperately for the next post of yours.
